The Texas Department of Transportation has announced the following lane closures planned along Hwy. 290 this weekend. For the most up-to-date information, visit www.my290.com.

Freeway closures

Hwy. 290 eastbound from Cypress Rosehill/Fry Road to Telge Road

-Three inside lanes will be closed overnight from 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, to 10 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 3.

Hwy. 6 northbound from north of Copper Grove Blvd. to Hwy. 290


-Total closure from 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6, to 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 30, 2020.

-Hwy. 290 eastbound detour: Stay on Hwy. 6 northbound to the Hwy. 290 eastbound connector ramp.

-FM 1960 northbound detour: Exit to the northbound frontage road to Hempstead Road and turn right onto the Hwy. 290 eastbound frontage road. U-turn at North Eldridge Parkway back to the Hwy. 290 westbound frontage road to FM 1960.

Hwy. 6 southbound from Hwy. 290 to Jackrabbit Road

-Total closure from 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6, to 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 30, 2020.

-Detour to the Hwy. 6 southbound frontage road to the Hwy. 6 southbound main lanes.

Hwy. 290 eastbound at I-10 direct connector

-Total closure from 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, to 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 4.

Hwy. 290 eastbound exit to Antoine/W. 34th Street

-Total closure until 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 4.

Hwy. 290 eastbound from Jones Road to Beltway 8

-Four outside lanes will be closed nightly from 9 p.m.-5 a.m. from Friday, Nov. 1, to Sunday, Nov. 3.

Hwy. 290 eastbound entrance ramp from Jones Road

-Total closure nightly from 9 p.m.-5 a.m. from Friday, Nov. 1, to Sunday, Nov. 3.

Hwy. 290 eastbound connector ramps to Beltway 8 northbound and southbound

-Total closure nightly from 9 p.m.-5 a.m. from Friday, Nov. 1, to Sunday, Nov. 3.

Hwy. 290 eastbound from Pinemont Drive to W. 34th Street

-Three inside lanes will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, to 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 4.

Frontage road closures

Hwy. 290 eastbound frontage road at Huffmeister Road

-One U-turn lane will be closed from 7 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2.

Street closures

Jackrabbit Road westbound at Hwy. 6

-Total closure from 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6, to 5 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 30.

-Hwy. 6 southbound detour: Head east on Jackrabbit Road to West Road and turn right on West Road to Hwy. 6.

-Hwy. 6 northbound detour: Head north on Hwy. 6 toward Hempstead Road to the Hwy. 290 eastbound frontage road and U-turn at North Eldridge Parkway.

Jackrabbit Road westbound at Hwy. 6

-Total closure until 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 30, 2020.

-Hwy. 6 southbound detour: Head east on Jackrabbit Road to West Road and turn right on West Road to Hwy. 6.

-FM 1960 detour: Head west on Jackrabbit Road to the Hwy. 6 northbound frontage road toward Hempstead Road. Turn right on Hempstead Road to the Hwy. 290 eastbound frontage road and U-turn at North Eldridge Parkway.

After lockdown on bars lifted, Cypress taphouse works to forge way forward

Owners with Brew:30 Taphouse said new restrictions on bars have caused challenges, but they are exploring ways to serve customers and keep business coming in.

Total cases have risen to 13,268 in Harris County, 7,812 of which are considered active while 5,215 are confirmed to have recovered. A total of 241 people are confirmed to have died from the coronavirus in the county.(Community Impact staff)

Meanwhile, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said 45% of new cases statewide between May 26 and June 2 can be tied to prisons, jails, meat packing plants or nursing homes.
