Jersey Village officials are still seeking feedback as the city works to update its comprehensive plan through 2035.

In a nutshell

Jersey Village officials and Antero Group, the city’s partner on the project, hosted its second public meeting May 13 to receive feedback on plan objectives and the future land use map. The event included two interactive activities to collect feedback from residents.

The update, which is funded by a $157,500 grant from the Texas General Land Office, kicked off last September, Community Impact reported. The city’s comprehensive plan was last updated in 2020.

Officials also shared a draft of the plan’s updated vision statement, which outlines the plan’s goals, Antero Group Project Manager Sean Norton said. The vision was crafted from a combination of community feedback, including the survey last fall, and the first public meeting in March.

“Jersey Village will be a premier community that celebrates its unique character and heritage while providing exceptional amenities and infrastructure,” the vision statement reads. “We will enhance our visual appeal, expand recreational opportunities, foster quality economic development, prioritize public safety, and strategically invest in revitalizing key corridors and underutilized spaces.”

Additionally, Norton presented the city’s preliminary goals, which include:
  • Encouraging a diverse and thriving local business environment
  • Continuing to support and attract young families and diverse communities
  • Preserving and enhancing parks and green space for multiple functions
  • Promoting economic development by marketing Jersey Village successes
  • Creating a safe, multimodal transportation network for all users

Norton said they will also add online feedback opportunities on the city and the project websites by May 19. There’s not an exact timeline for the feedback, but he said it will likely be open through the end of May or beginning of June.

Looking ahead

Antero Group will present the plan’s preliminary draft in July, followed by a third public meeting in September to present the final plan, Norton said.

City Council is expected to adopt the finalized plan in November.
