The CFISD athletics programs held a gift card drive July 7-17 for Kerrville ISD, collecting $33,535 to support rebuilding the district. Most of the gift cards are for hardware stores such as Lowe’s and Home Depot to aid Kerrville ISD’s repair costs, according to the release.
CFISD’s Future Farmers of America programs also collectively donated over 300 gift cards to Hill Country flood victims in a one-day drive July 10, per the release. The 12 high school FFA chapters were able to send $22,820 in gift cards to Kerrville ISD and Hunt ISD.
Monica McClellan, an agricultural teacher at Cypress Woods High School, helped organize the effort after agricultural teachers from Hunt ISD and Kerrville ISD posted a callout for support on Facebook.
