Irene Ruiz will serve as chief officer for school leadership for Cy-Fair ISD, according to a July 21 news release.

She replaces Christina Cole in the role, who was named chief of staff in Klein ISD on July 1, per the release. Ruiz will oversee school staff and district leadership across the school district.

Career history

Ruiz joined CFISD in 2010 at Moore Elementary School and held various leadership positions in the district before being named assistant superintendent for elementary school administration, her most recent role, in 2023.

She was named district director of community programs in 2018, where she oversaw approximately 300 staff members across 56 campuses and five early learning centers.


Ruiz’s other titles include:
  • Assistant principal at Moore Elementary School
  • Principal at M. Robinson Elementary School
  • An assistant principal position in Arlington ISD in North Texas
  • Bilingual teacher in Arlington ISD and Northside ISD near San Antonio
Ruiz earned her Bachelor of Science in communication studies from the University of Texas at Austin and her Master of Education in educational leadership and policy studies from the University of Texas at Arlington.
