Founded in 2012 by athletes and brothers Aja and Aryan Barto, Behemoth Gym was built on a mission to help the community achieve long-term health and wellness, and redefine strength through personalized coaching.

"Most people don't realize that running a good gym is mostly about managing energy—both yours and your members'. The physical part of coaching is just the beginning," Barto, said. "There's an emotional weight to truly caring about your members' progress that most people don't see. When someone trusts you with their health and goals, that responsibility stays with you even after they leave the gym."

Meet the owners

Aja Barto, a professional CrossFit athlete, said it was in 2010 when CrossFit was booming that he and his brother realized the benefit of high-intensity fitness training.

After practicing CrossFit themselves, the results in their physique and wellness led them to create a safe space where they could promote wellness in their own community.

Inspired by Barto’s former CrossFit nickname, Behemoth, the gym has evolved with the potential within every client at Behemoth through coaching and mentorship, the owner said.

“Through what we do within Behemoth, we help people tap into that. So everybody here today has something bigger, better, bolder within them,” Barto said.

What to expect

More than a gym, Behemoth Gym is a private training space where clients receive a tailored workout plan based on their unique needs, Barto said. Behemoth Gym initiates training with a consultation in which clients can share their training experience, previous injury history and personal fitness goals.

Barto said Behemoth Gym serves clients with unique backgrounds including clients training after hip replacement surgery recovery and beginners looking for guidance.

With an approach that emphasizes resistance training and cardiovascular exercises, Behemoth Gym offers private training, small group sessions and virtual programs.

“We build our training from a longevity standpoint,” Barto said. “We don't want to just help our clients feel better, look better and perform better, but we want to help them age better as well.”
