Lone Star College-CyFair marks 20 years of education, community

On Sept. 13, students, college staff and members of the local community celebrated the 20th anniversary of Lone Star College-CyFair.

Long story short

LSC-CyFair was founded in 2003, welcoming about 7,000 students to its campus.

“It was a time when the right people, the right place, the right time, the right resources, the right community leaders all came together with the right vision to create this wonderful entity, and it's that vision that inspires me and makes me so proud of having had a role ... in the founding of this college,” LSC-CyFair founding president Diane Troyer said.

Two decades later, the campus is home to a student population of about 23,000, and two graduation ceremonies will be needed for the first time this year, LSC-CyFair President Valerie Jones said Sept. 13.

• Over 320,000 students have attended the campus in its history.
