Upcoming projects

1. I-45 reconstruction


Project: A 1.6 mile section of I-45 between Shenandoah Park Drive and Hwy. 242 will be reconstructed.

Update: According to a Dec. 1 media update from the Texas Department of Transportation, this project will begin in early 2025.
  • Timeline: first quarter of 2025-third quarter 2028
  • Cost: $42.63 million

2. Eastbound flyover construction on Hwy. 242


Project: Montgomery County commissioners and TxDOT are funding the construction of a flyover from northbound I-45 to eastbound Hwy. 242.

Update: According to the TxDOT project tracker, the project was given notice to proceed on Oct. 2 and an estimated completion date was given for Sept. 15, 2026. A date to begin work was not specified as of Dec. 27.

Ongoing projects

3. Hwy. 105 widening

Project: Between 10th Street and South Loop 336, Hwy. 105 is being widened from two to four lanes.


Update: This project is 35% completed, according to a Dec. 1 media update from TxDOT.
  • Timeline: March 2023-third quarter 2027
  • Cost: $52.35 million
  • Funding source: state funds
4. I-45 northbound ramp reversal

Project: I-45 is undergoing a northbound ramp reversal between FM 830 and FM 1097.

Update: According to a Dec. 1 media update from TxDOT, this project is 66% completed.
  • Timeline: February 2024-fourth quarter of 2025
  • Cost: $3.17 million

5. Hwy. 105 reconstruction

Project: Hwy. 105 is being reconstructed and widened from two to four lanes between South Loop 336 and FM 1484.


Update: This project is 84% completed, according to a Dec. 1 media update from TxDOT.

  • Cost: $89.72 million
  • Funding source: state funds
6. Hwy. 242 widening

Project: TxDOT is using an existing right of way on Hwy. 242 between FM 1488 and I-45 to widen lanes and restripe the intersections.

Update: As of the most recent information available in December, the project was 39% complete.
