I-45 frontage road

The Texas Department of Transportation is building a northbound frontage road on I-45 between FM 830 and FM 1097 in Willis, a project that was 29% completed as of a Feb. 1 update from TxDOT. The project was awarded to James Construction Group. According to TxDOT, crews are building a three-lane northbound frontage road, which is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2023.

Cost: $7.47 million

FM 1097 widening

TxDOT is widening FM 1097 between Lake Conroe Hills Drive and Blueberry Hills Road from two lanes to four lanes with a continuous left turn lane. The project was 14% completed as of a Feb. 1 media update from TxDOT.

Timeline: second quarter 2022-first quarter 2024


Cost: $16.09 million

Hwy. 75 overlay

TxDOT began an asphalt overlay project in Conroe in late January on Hwy. 75 between League Line Road and Loop 336, according to TxDOT Public Information Officer Emily Black. The project has been awarded to Vulcan Materials and is expected to take about six months, weather permitting, according to TxDOT.

Upcoming projects


David Memorial Drive extension

A project to extend David Memorial Drive to Hwy. 242 will begin in April following road clearing that took place in late 2022, according to Kathie Reyer, city administrator for the city of Shenandoah. Bidding for construction on the expansion project was expected to begin in February, according to Reyer. The project is in partnership with the cities of Conroe and Shenandoah and Montgomery County.
