Dozens of citizens lined the streets for a memorial procession for Mayor Toby Powell In downtown Conroe on Sept. 18.

Powell, who was elected as mayor in 2016, died Sept. 12 due to cancer.

Led by law-enforcement vehicles, the procession drove through downtown Conroe, beginning on Metcalf Street, before winding down West Davis Street and by the courthouse, finishing at the Garden Park Cemetery, where Powell's funeral was held.

The public was invited to watch the procession and pay their respects. Citizens were mostly quiet, occasionally waving at passing cars. The procession lasted about 30 minutes.
