The overview
Western Midstream, an oil and gas company based in the Woodlands, raised over $650,000 for Meals on Wheels in Montgomery County, a community-based nonprofit that serves homebound senior citizens and disabled people, according to a news release.
“The event was a great networking opportunity for our players and sponsors. And it was such an easy way to give back to our community while also enjoying our area’s strong and vibrant culture of community,” Western Midstream President and CEO Michael Ure said in the news release. “Meals on Wheels plays such an important role to our neighbors in Montgomery County, and I along with my WES colleagues are so deeply appreciative of our turnout and the benefit that the tournament will have on their mission.”
The details
The tournament consisted of an 18-hole golf competition and featured 188 participants, including former Masters champion and CBS lead analyst Trevor Immerman, former NFL quarterback Marc Bulger, and PGA professional golfer Bronson Burgoon.
The event also consisted of 90 Western Midstream volunteers, several Meals on Wheels volunteers and 81 sponsors.
The idea to host this event to benefit the community came from some passionate employees, Ure said in a news release.
“That impetus behind the Golf Classic directly reflects our outreach philosophy, which provides a per-hour matching donation behind an employee’s volunteerism at a nonprofit organization,” Ure said.
