The R.F. Meador Branch and Central Branch libraries of the Montgomery County Memorial Library System have received additional funding for children's program as of early December announcements.

The R. F. Meador Branch Library in Willis was named one of 15 2024 Family Place Libraries Project grant recipients as of a December news release from the Texas State Library and Archives Commission. The program was established statewide in 2015 to help public libraries address early learning.

About the program

Family Place Libraries feature a family-centered environment, helping caregivers of young children be their child's first teachers, according to the release.

According to the release, the grant will provide the Willis library with funding for the training and equipment necessary to:
  • Host workshops for children ages 0-3 and their caregivers
  • Develop an interactive space for children to play and learn in the library
  • Forge partnerships with organizations serving young children and their families
The Willis library is located at 709 W. Montgomery St., Willis.
