Lone Star Family Health Center will provide well child visits and immunizations from July 23-Aug. 5, according to a July 19 news release. The organization’s services will be free for uninsured families and will usually have “no out-of-pocket expense for preventive services” for insured families seeking preventative care, the release said.

The two-week event, branded "Don't Miss the Bus," will launch with a free health fair on July 23 at Lone Star Family Health’s Conroe location at Conroe Medical Drive. Events include face painting, inflatables, giveaways and free vision screening from the Conroe Noon Lions.

All Lone Star Family Health locations will be providing immunizations and well child visits, according to the center's announcement.

Karen Harwell, Lone Star Family Health’s CEO, said the center “looks forward to this time each summer” as children return to school.

“We play an important role in helping families get off to a fresh and healthy start to the school year,” Harwell said in the release.

To make an appointment for Don’t Miss the Bus, call 936-539-4004. If uninsured, request to speak to an eligibility specialist prior to making your appointment. All patients must bring a list of required immunizations from their school and a current shot record. Space and vaccine stock are limited.

Lone Star is celebrating 20 years of its Conroe location providing services this year. Harwell told Community Impact Newspaper that despite the growth north Montgomery County is showing, there is still “so much demand.”

In addition to its Conroe headquarters, Lone Star has locations in Willis, The Woodlands, Grangerland and Huntsville.
