Council members approved the interlocal agreement, which stipulates that the city would pay for up to 50% of the cost, and added a not-to-exceed amount of $35,000. The temporary traffic signal is estimated to cost around $65,000, Public Works Director Mike Muckleroy said.
Muckleroy also said the county is planning to fully fund the permanent traffic signal with road bond funds. In May, voters approved a $480 million road bond, which will fund transportation projects across the county.
The temporary signal is estimated to be completed around the end of September, Muckleroy said.
