In a social media post from Precinct 3 Commissioner Ritch Wheeler, the office provided a list of roads which will be closed for work replacing railroad ties and resurfacing roadways at crossings. The roads to be closed include:
- Jan. 11: Robinson Road and Woodson Road
- Jan. 12: Cox Road and Trade Center Parkway
- Jan. 13: Tamina Road
- Jan. 14: Hwy. 242, eastbound and westbound
- Jan. 21: FM 1488 (east of I-45)
- Jan. 22: Rayford Road Access
- Jan. 23: Richards Road and River Plantation Drive
"Our goal is to complete this work as quickly and as safely as possible, with the least amount of impact to neighborhoods, commuters, and businesses," officials said.
What else?
The roadways will be closed until work on the tie replacements is complete; however, updates regarding the project timelines will be posted as they are received. The tie replacements are part of an overarching program from Union Pacific to replace nearly 600 railroad ties in Harris and Montgomery counties.
