Conroe, Montgomery see changes in diversity of population between 2018-23

During the past five years, the demographic makeup within the boundaries of Conroe, Montgomery and Willis ISDs became more diverse, according to the U.S. Census Bureau’s 2023 American Community Survey 5-Year Estimates data released Dec. 12.

The gist

CISD and WISD also saw an increase in the Black population, which rose to 8.9% and 8.5%, respectively, according to the U.S. Census Bureau’s data.

Meanwhile, the Asian population within all the school districts’ boundaries increased.

• CISD’s Asian population rose from 4.5% to 5.8%
• MISD’s Asian population rose from 1.6% to 1.8%
• WISD’s Asian population rose from 1.5% to 2.4%

The white population within CISD and WISD decreased to 82.1% and 88.3%, respectively, while MISD’s white population increased to 93.4%, according to the U.S. Census Bureau’s 2023 American Community Survey 5-Year Estimates.

Additionally, the Hispanic population saw an uptick to 26.6%, 9.3% and 22.7% within the boundaries of CISD, MISD and WISD, respectively, according to the American Community Survey 5-Year Estimates.
