The Texas A&M Forest Service is planning to conduct prescribed burning operations at W.G. Jones State Forest on Feb. 21-22, according to a Feb. 19 news release.

The prescribed burning is a forest management tool for endangered species habitat restoration, undergrowth vegetation reduction and to provide for community safety, according to the news release.

The area that will be burned is 30 acres and located between I-45 and Hwy. 242, according to the news release.

Certain areas of the forest will be closed to the public, according to the news release. Agency firefighters and equipment will be stationed at the forest as a precaution.
