During its Sept. 26 meeting, Montgomery City Council unanimously approved its budget and tax rate for fiscal year 2023-24.

In a nutshell

City Council adopted a $5.92 million balanced general fund budget, which means the projected revenues are the same as the projected expenses. According to the adopted budget, the general fund expenses are as follows:

  • Police: $2.5 million
  • Administration: $2.2 million
  • Public works: $860,461
  • Court: $314,925

Council members also unanimously approved its FY 2023-24 tax rate, which is $0.40 per $100 valuation. This is the fifth consecutive year the city has had this tax rate, Mayor Byron Sanford said.
