The city of Conroe is under a Stage 1 drought with a portion of the city under Stage 2 drought, according to a Sept. 7 news release. Water use restrictions are voluntary during a Stage 1 drought; restrictions become mandatory during a Stage 2 drought.
What’s happened
Due to “ongoing drought conditions combined with a reduced rate of production of groundwater well in the northwest quadrant” of the city, Conroe has implemented Stage 1 and Stage 2 of its drought contingency plan for the city, according to a news release.
See below for the portion of the city under Stage 2 drought restrictions. The remainder of the city is under a Stage 1 drought.

According to the city’s drought contingency plan, water restrictions under a Stage 1 drought are voluntary and include:
- Minimizing or discontinuing nonessential water use
- Odd addresses watering only on Wednesdays between 8 p.m.-8 a.m.
- Even addresses watering only on Thursdays between 8 p.m.-8 a.m.
According to the city’s drought contingency plan, Stage 2 drought water restrictions are mandatory and include:
- Odd addresses only watering on Wednesdays between 8 p.m.-8 a.m.
- Even addresses only watering on Thursdays between 8 p.m.-8 a.m.
- A prohibition on washing vehicles and using water to fill pools except between 8 p.m.-8 a.m.
- A prohibition of water to maintain fountains or ponds that do not support aquatic life
- A prohibition on using water to wash sidewalks, driveways and buildings
