Willis residents will soon have their own Montgomery County Tax Office location after the Montgomery County Commissioners Court approved new positions and the lease for the new location at its April 25 meeting.

“There’s four positions we’re opening up there,” Precinct 1 Commissioner Robert Walker said during discussion. “This is going to be a huge thing for the north part of the county to have a tax office up there.”

Walker said the tax office will be paying for the build-out of the new office while the money for the new employees will come out of Precinct 1’s budget until the fiscal year 2023-24 budget.

The Willis office will have four employees—two deputy specialists, an assistant branch manager and a branch manager, according to the April 25 agenda.

Walker also said Precinct 1 will be paying the lease for the new office, which will be located at 804 W. Montgomery St., Ste. B, Willis.
