During its Nov. 8 meeting, the Montgomery County Commissioners Court voted unanimously to extend the county’s contract with Tri-County Behavioral Healthcare through Dec. 31, 2024.

The court also amended the contract to reimburse Tri-County Behavioral Healthcare $15 million for its services from the county’s American Rescue Plan Act, or ARPA, funds—which comes on top of previously approved funds of $6 million, according to the contract amendment.

Tri-County—recognized by the state as a certified community behavioral health clinic—is sponsored by the commissioners courts of Liberty, Montgomery and Walker counties, according to its website.

The original contract with Tri-County—approved in September 2021—stipulated the county would provide $211,525 in funds from the FY 2022-23 budget to support its mental health services.

Between January-June of this year, the clinic recorded 4,251 mental health crisis cases—3,426 for adults and 825 for children.
