Montgomery City Council had two ballot items this election. According to unofficial early voting results, Proposition A is passing with 873 votes for and Proposition B is failing with 681 votes against.
- Proposition A would allow the creation of the Montgomery Crime Control and Prevention District, CCPD, dedicated to crime reduction programs, the adoption of a proposed sales and use tax at a rate of 1/4 of 1%, and to maintain the same overall sales tax rate in the City, the reduction of the sales and use tax currently levied by the Montgomery Economic Development Corporation from a rate of 1/2 of 1% to 1/4 of 1%, the ballot states.
- Proposition B would allow the term of Office of the Mayor and City Council be extended from two years to four years with a transition of three year terms beginning with the May 2025 elections and four year terms for each subsequent election, the ballot states.
In early voting there were 249,526 ballots cast countywide, which represents 54.6% of total registered voters.
Totals from ballots cast Nov. 5 have yet to be released. Polls closed at 7 p.m., although voters who were in line at 7 p.m. were still able to cast ballots.
