A total of 135,565 ballots were cast during the first week of early voting for the Nov. 5 general election in Montgomery County, setting a new record for early voting turnout in a presidential election cycle. As of Oct. 27, there were 456,254 registered voters in Montgomery County, meaning 29.7% of registered voters voted in the first week of early voting.

What you need to know

Early voting runs through Nov. 1, with Election Day on Nov. 5. During early voting, residents are able to vote at any of the 10 early voting locations across Montgomery County.


The majority of early voting turnout was in The Woodlands area, with 23,738 votes cast at the South Montgomery County Community Center.

Why it matters


Historically, presidential elections have the highest voter turnout in Montgomery County. According to data from Montgomery County Election Central, early voter turnout has already surpassed turnout numbers for previous presidential election cycles.
