With all election day votes in for the city of Conroe runoff elections, Harry Hardman has won the race for Conroe City Council Place 3, according to unofficial results from Montgomery County. Hardman garnered 61.02% of the votes cast, or 1,462 votes.

Opponent John Hernandez followed with 934 votes, according to the county elections office.

Hardman could not immediately be reached for comment June 11, but in a phone interview June 12, Hardman said he hopes to bring his experience as president of the Lone Star Groundwater Conservation District—a position he will resign as he is sworn into City Council—to help the city achieve sustainable growth.

"What I want to see from Conroe and Council is we need to do strategic, sustainable growth in our community. The biggest asset that we have and the key differentiator we have from other community is our natural beauty. I want us to do everything we can do to preserve that while still growing at a sustainable pace, because as the [soon to be] former president of Lone Star [Groundwater Conservation District], I understand the importance of water conservation, straining all the infrastructure. It's very difficult when you're growing at the pace we have been to keep up from an infrastructure perspective," Hardman said in an interview. "I want us to grow at a sustainable rate, be strategic about the investments we make, and to make Conroe the most desirable place to the live, not necessarily the fastest growing."

In the race for Conroe municipal judge, William Waggoner received 1,326 votes, or 56.16% of ballots cast, to opponent Meloney Turner's 1,035 votes, according to unofficial results.

All results are unofficial until canvassed.
