Why are you running for election?

As a resident of Montgomery for over 45 years, I find our great city at a crossroads. We have an amazing future ahead of us, but we need to plan wisely. Our leaders need to understand how the decisions of today will impact our future while also honoring the history of Montgomery.

What will be your top three priorities, if elected?

Infrastructure, water quality and drainage

What are the two biggest challenges the city faces in relation to growth, and how would you address them, if elected?

Infrastructure will always be our biggest challenge. Our city is not only growing as a tourist attraction and a desired location to live, but it serves as a large corridor to traffic on Hwy. 105. We need to look at how to accommodate infrastructure from all of these lenses. This will take someone who knows the history of Montgomery, understands the financial obligations and opportunities that Montgomery has, and someone that is willing to invest the time it will take to research the tiered responses that these types of infrastructure changes will require.

Juanita Simmons

Experience: 40 years leadership experience in public and private oil companies

Occupation: retired oil and gas executive

Why are you running for election?

After attending several City Council meetings, I noted that the city of Montgomery needs a leader that responds to citizens’ concerns and issues without fear or retaliation. They need a problem solver with the ability to develop trust and loyal relationships, someone experienced in building infrastructure to meet the needs of a fast-growing city.

What will be your top three priorities, if elected?

Learning what I need to know to be the best city council [member] ever; determining how the city is going to meet the growing demands and growth projections; and developing trust among the city administrators and the citizens of the city

What are the two biggest challenges the city faces in relation to growth, and how would you address them, if elected?

[The biggest challenges include] finding the money via grants, bonds, etc. to grow the infrastructure needed to supply the new houses without raising taxes and bring all the city administrations together to meet those needs.
