Work is underway on several Willis ISD projects, including the construction of new campuses. Trustees received updates on the projects during their Dec. 10 meeting. See them below. This story is not comprehensive.

Ninth Grade Center

Project: The center is a new expansion project for Willis High School as well as the parking lot.

Update: Permits are waiting to be approved from the city of Conroe, which has caused the project to be paused, WISD Chief Operations Officer Bob Eaton said at the Dec. 10 meeting.

• Location: 10005 Hwy. 75, Willis
• Timeline: fall 2027 completion

Transportation Center

Project: The new center will accommodate 100 buses along with staff offices.

Update: The guaranteed max price was approved for $4.9 million for the construction manager at the Dec. 10 meeting.

• Location: 215 Philpot St., Willis
• Timeline: spring 2026 completion

Ruth Castleschouldt Elementary

Project: The new elementary campus, funded by WISD’s $143 million 2022 bond, will have an 850-student capacity.

Update: The brick has begun being put on the outer part of the school while the interior has been framed and drywalled, Eaton said. Roofing will also be completed.
