State law requires 75,600 minutes of minimum instructional time per school year, as previously reported by Community Impact.
According to a Jan. 24 MISD news release, the approved calendar will include:
- A start date of Aug. 14 for students; the first day of school for the 2024-25 school year was Aug. 15
- An end date of May 22, 2026 for students; the last day for the 2024-25 school year will be May 23
- 27 district-wide holidays, which is the same number as on the 2024-25 calendar
- 15 student-only holidays where staff will work, compared to 16 on the 2024-25 calendar
