Montgomery ISD trustees approve new 2025-26 calendar

State law requires 75,600 minutes of minimum instructional time per school year, as previously reported by Community Impact.

According to a Jan. 24 MISD news release, the approved calendar will include:

• A start date of Aug. 14 for students; the first day of school for the 2024-25 school year was Aug. 15
• An end date of May 22, 2026 for students; the last day for the 2024-25 school year will be May 23
• 27 district-wide holidays, which is the same number as on the 2024-25 calendar
• 15 student-only holidays where staff will work, compared to 16 on the 2024-25 calendar

MISD’s District Advisory Committee conducted a survey to gather feedback on the calendar in October, according to the news release.

“We truly appreciate the hard work of the District Advisory Committee in creating next year’s academic calendar,” board Vice President Laurie Turner said via the release. “We understand that this is never an easy task, and the committee carefully balanced many factors to develop a calendar that best serves our students, supports our staff, aligns with the preferences of our community and meets state requirements.”
