By partnering with the Montgomery County Food Bank and the American Heart Association, Montgomery ISD has opened a resource center to supply students and families with necessities, according to a Nov. 19 blog post from the school district.

The MISD Resource Center—which is set up like a small store—will be initially open by appointment to community members in need, according to the blog post. School counselors can also access resources on behalf of families and students.

“In addition to serving MISD families and employees in need, our goal is to build partnerships with the community and student organizations,” MISD Director of Community Service Courtney Dyer said via the post. “We look forward to making this resource available and also connecting with volunteers and those interested in donating to the center.”

According to the post, the resource center—which is funded through a grant from the Montgomery County Food Bank and other donors—offers:
  • Food
  • Toiletries and personal care items
  • Cleaning supplies

On Nov. 19, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held for the MISD Resource Center, according to the post. Members of the MISD community celebrated with leaders from the American Heart Association’s Gulf Coast Region and the Montgomery County Food Bank.

“Through this collaboration, we aim to provide essential resources to MISD students, families and employees, helping to create a community where everyone has access to the nourishment and supplies they need,” food bank President and CEO Kristine Marlow said via the post. “Together, we’re not just addressing hunger; we’re building a foundation for success both inside and outside the classroom.”
