Current situation
Under the May 2 consent agenda, which is made up of multiple items voted on in one motion, trustees authorized the chancellor to negotiate a construction manager at-risk contract for LSC-Montgomery's Magnolia Center, according to May 2 meeting documents. The contract is for an amount not to exceed $28.2 million with construction company Tellepsen.
Also under the consent agenda, trustees approved the negotiation of a construction manager at-risk contract for the Lone Star College-Houston North Victory expansion, according to meeting documents. The contract is for $13.5 million with contractor Durotech, Inc.
Diving deeper
As previously reported by Community Impact, the Magnolia Center will:
- Measure 51,500 square feet
- Be substantially completed by summer 2025
- Be located near the intersection of FM 1486 and FM 1774 in Magnolia
- Include more classrooms, a biology lab and a fitness center
- Measure 20,000 square feet
- Be substantially completed by July 2025
- Be located at 4141 Victory Drive, Houston
Planning for the Magnolia Center has been ongoing since 2014, and the project’s design was completed in late 2022, as previously reported by Community Impact.
