Lone Star College System trustees approved increased tuition rates for the 2024-25 school year during the board's March 7 meeting, bumping in-district tuition by $8 per credit hour.

The breakdown

Trustees unanimously approved the 2024-25 credit tuition fee schedule as part of the meeting’s consent agenda. According to March 7 meeting documents, the following tuition rate changes were made:
  • In-district tuition increased from $103 per credit hour to $111 per credit hour
  • Out-of-district tuition increased from $231 per credit hour to $249 per credit hour
  • Out-of-state/international tuition increased from $290 per credit hour to $313 per credit hour
  • Dual-credit tuition increased from $40 per credit hour to $43 per credit hour
These rates will go into effect in April when registration for the upcoming fall semester opens, according to meeting documents. The rates will impact all LSC campuses and degrees offered, according to a March 13 email from a college spokesperson.

Diving in deeper

The new tuition rates are expected to bring in an additional $10.1 million in revenue for LSC, according to meeting documents.

Trustees did not discuss the new tuition rates before voting March 7.

“The board of trustees has adopted a goal to equalize the proportion of our revenues from property taxes and tuition,” reads the March 7 meeting agenda.
