How we got here

The board of trustees discussed school calendar options for the 2024-25 calendar during a Dec. 12 meeting.

After creating two different drafts, CISD put out a survey to get feedback from parents who are employees, parents only and employee’s only.

A total of 51.33% respondents voted for Draft A and 48.67% voted for Draft B.

The final draft approved was considered as Draft A.2.

The approved calendar will apply to the 2024-25 school year, and a calendar was also approved for the 2025-26 school year with similar dates. The draft of the 2025-26 calendar is included in the board meeting packet.

Upshaw said the committee decided to present the calendar for the next two school years due to similar dates in both calendar years.

She said the difference in dates for 2025-26 regards the early release dates.

In 2025-26, early release dates will be:
  • Dec. 19

"I like presenting two years in a row, that gives parents the time to plan those Disney vacations or trips with families," board member Theresa Wagaman said. "I think it's a good idea to do it two years in a row."
