Following a district survey, the Conroe ISD board of trustees discussed options for the 2024-25 calendar at its Dec. 12 meeting.

Of the final options being considered, the first option contains several four-day weekends, and the second, which was more favored by those surveyed so far, did not, said Hedith Sauceda-Upshaw, assistant superintendent for teaching and learning. Both calendars include 172 days of instruction with an Aug. 14 start date, a May 23 last day of school, a winter break of Dec. 23-Jan. 6 and a March 17-21 spring break.

Sauceda-Upshaw said respondents had indicated a preference for a mid-August starting date and a last day for students before Memorial Day.

The framework

Superintendent Curtis Null said the district gets more feedback on school calendars than on any other topic from families. However, it can be challenging to engage all of the stakeholders in the district, officials said.

A determination on the calendar will be made at a future board meeting.
