The principal of Madeley Ranch Elementary School in Montgomery ISD will be serving as the new principal of Creekside Elementary School when it opens in August.

Shelby Smith has served as Madeley Ranch’s principal since February 2018, according to a Dec. 6 news release from MISD. Smith was approved for her new role by MISD’s board of trustees Dec. 5.

“I am honored and so grateful for the opportunity to open a new campus, and look forward to establishing traditions and helping build a strong foundation at Creekside,” Smith said in the release.

The search for a new Madeley Ranch principal will begin in MISD’s spring semester, according to the release. Smith will serve in her role as Madeley Ranch principal for the rest of the 2023-24 school year.


According to the release, Smith also:
  • Has worked for MISD for about 12 years
  • Previously served as an assistant principal for MISD and Humble ISD
  • Began her education career teaching elementary students
  • Earned a master’s degree in administration

Construction on Creekside Elementary—MISD’s seventh elementary school, funded by the district’s $326.9 million 2022 bond—began in June. The school will be located behind Lake Creek High School off FM 2854 and is designed to absorb growing enrollment at Keenan and Stewart Creek elementary schools.
