Overview
During a June 27 school board meeting, the district approved raising the elementary lunch price from $2.50 to $2.75, and secondary prices were raised from $3.25 to $3.50. Similarly, breakfast prices have been raised from $1.25 to $1.50. Breakfast prices had not been raised since the 2013-14 school year, and lunch prices were last raised in 2016-17, Lynn said.
Lynn said the raising of school lunch prices is due to the United States Department of Agriculture requiring prices be in a certain range. Lynn said due to not having increased the prices in a few years, the district fell outside of that range. He said these increases allow the district to comply with USDA regulations.
Quote of note
"Obviously not increasing lunch prices since 2016-17, I think we all understand how food prices have increased during that time period, especially in the last year or so," Lynn said.
