Montgomery ISD is beginning work on several projects funded by its 2022 bond package totaling $326.9 million that voters approved in May.

1. MISD Athletic Complex

PBK Architects was selected this summer to work on designing the upgrades to the MISD Athletic Complex across from Montgomery High School. Upgrades include renovations to the press box, elevator and turf as well as expansions of the seating capacity, restrooms, concession stands and locker rooms, according to MISD.

Bond funds allocated: $8.51 million

Anticipated completion: August 2025


2. Lake Creek High School

Trustees approved Pogue Construction as the construction manager at risk on July 26 for the construction of Phase 2 of Lake Creek High School, an expansion with additional labs and classrooms to accommodate 900 more students. Huckabee Architects was also selected this summer to design the expansion.

Bond funds allocated: $27.88 million

Anticipated completion: opening for 2024-25 year


3. Elementary School No. 7

Architectural firm Huckabee Architects has been chosen to design Elementary School No. 7, which was included in Proposition A of Montgomery ISD’s May bond package voters approved. The elementary school is anticipated to have a capacity of 900 students and accommodate enrollment growth in Keenan Elementary and Stewart Creek Elementary attendance zones, according to the district.

The board of trustees also authorized the district to move forward with the due diligence phase July 26 for a potential site for the elementary school off FM 2854 behind Lake Creek High School. The due diligence phase includes a series of studies that will help MISD officials determine if the location is a viable option for the elementary campus, according to a July 26 release.

On Aug. 16, district officials said the naming process for the new campus is anticipated to begin this fall, including choosing a mascot for the school.

Anticipated completion: opening ahead of the 2024-25 school year
