"This will give our families and employees time to restore power and handle any home damages they are dealing with," the statement reads. "It will also give our maintenance department time to fully assess and repair damages to school facilities. School will resume at the normal time Monday, Feb. 22."
Updated 3:45 p.m. Feb. 16: Willis ISD will remain closed Feb. 17 and 18 due to hazardous roadways and widespread power outages, the district tweeted. There will be no remote learning required, and an announcement for Feb. 19's school plans will be made by 3 p.m. on Feb. 18.
