Conroe ISD Superintendent Don Stockton announced his retirement from the district in August during the district’s Celebrate Our Schools assembly. Stockton will retire June 1 after serving 32 years in CISD.

During his tenure as superintendent, Stockton saw student enrollment numbers grow by approximately 24,000, the opening of 20 campuses and the passage of three multimillion-dollar bond referendums. “I am thankful for my colleagues and the wonderful students and supportive communities that make up the Conroe ISD family,” Stockton said.

What’s next

CISD published the job posting Jan. 8, and educators can apply for the superintendent position until 5 p.m. Jan. 28. Job requirements include a doctorate degree in educational administration from an accredited university, a valid Texas Superintendent Certificate and five years of leadership in school administration. According to the district website, candidate interviews will take place between Feb. 6-March 9, and the new superintendent will be named April 17. This story is one update from The January Issue.
