Shriram Singh said although he helps run The Shout House, the business belongs to his wife, Jaishree Shekhawat, who bought the land and established the restaurant and event venue on Nov. 18, 2022.
According to Singh, women-owned businesses are destined to prosper in his culture.
“In my culture, women represent Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and good fortune,” Singh said.
The setup
Singh said he and his wife decided to establish The Shout House in Conroe because they noticed the area lacked restaurant and venue options that could hold over 200-500 people.
The goal was to provide a spacious location big enough for families to enjoy quality time together in a safe environment. Although The Shout House's original focus was introducing Indian cuisine to Conroe, the space allowed for an outdoor sports bar and event venue.
Singh said with the help of manager Bogart Gutierrez’s experience in the business industry, The Shout House was established as a family-friendly environment to enjoy Indian cuisine, music and sports.
Zooming in
The Shout House menu includes both Indian cuisine by chefs from India and American food. Some customer favorites include chicken masala, garlic chicken and garlic naan, as well as The Shout House burger, boudin egg rolls and pulled pork sandwiches.
Gutierrez said The Shout House provides an event venue for large gatherings and parties including graduations, birthdays and weddings. The Shout House offers a full package deal for events consisting of the event space, a DJ, photographers, food and drinks.
The restaurant and event venue also offers a dance floor, drinks, large televisions for sports, 12-13 speakers located in the outside venue, karaoke, catering, happy hour and events such as ladies' night held on Thursdays for ladies participating in karaoke. This includes their first drink “on the house,” Singh said.
The impact
Singh said he hopes to bring community members together at The Shout House where his staff provides a family-friendly environment to celebrate special occasions and create memories.
The Shout House also contributes to the community through Singh’s nonprofit, Hey Govind. The organization formed in 2015 and provides children living in apartments in the Conroe area with meals prepared at The Shout House.
The nonprofit also offers a free after-school program with developmental activities for children under 18. A portion of the funds raised through The Shout House’s catering services help fund the nonprofit, which feeds 450 kids Monday through Friday, Singh said.
