La Pizca Mexican Grill, located at 1101 W. Dallas St., opened Jan. 25 in Conroe. Owner Amador Soto said the new restaurant serves authentic Mexican food selected by a team of top-notch chefs. He said opening weekend produced an amazing turnout.

"We got a full house," he said. "I wasn't expecting to see that many people, but it was great, and it was a good training for everybody."

Soto said most of the items on the menu are made from scratch with fresh ingredients. Dishes include shrimp empanadas, ceviche, aguachile, fajitas, enchiladas, mole, tacos, and different cuts of steak and seafood.

The cocktail menu also includes a variety of specialty drinks, such as a guava margarita, caipirinha and a flecha zapoteca, which is a mixture of mezcal, pineapple juice, light beer and cardamum. Happy hour is 2-6 p.m. daily. 936-494-3444. www.lapizcamexicangrillcantina.com
