What we reported
Conroe ISD will debut two new campuses in August—Grand Oaks High School and Katherine Johnson Clark Intermediate School—as part of a $487 million school bond passed by voters in 2015. Grand Oaks will be a ninth- and 10th-grade campus when it opens and will add new grade levels every year until it is at capacity in 2020.
Construction on Montgomery ISD’s second high school, Lake Creek High School, is ongoing, and the campus will also open in August 2018. MHS Principal Phil Eaton was appointed as principal of Lake Creek in November.
Easy Foster, CISD director of planning and construction, said construction of Grand Oaks High is 79 percent complete and Katherine Johnson Clark is 48 percent complete.
As of December, MISD Chief Operating Officer Bobby Morris said the $118 million Lake Creek High School is at 70 percent completed.
Construction of the schools will continue this year, and the facilities are expected to be ready in time for the start of the 2018-19 school year.
