Nursing homes are old news in Conroe and Montgomery with more retirement communities that offer varying living options spreading across North Houston area.

Communities like Woodhaven Village Senior Living on South Loop 336 in Conroe provide assisted- and independent-living options for senior residents. Development of the senior community started in early 2016, community officials said.

Seventy-seven independent-living and 60 assisted-living units are on property.  Woodhaven residents have access to an on-site movie theater, hair salon, putting green and  dog park.

Bonterra at Woodforest, developed by the Johnson Development Corp., has been under construction in the master-planned Woodforest community since summer 2014. Bonterra caters to residents age 55 and older, and features amenities, such as tennis courts, walking trails, swimming and golfing, according to a company press release.

Once complete, the neighborhood will feature 700 homesites. To date, 210 homes have been built, according to the company.

Additional neighborhoods like the Villas at White Oak Ranch in Conroe near Longmire Road offer similar living arrangements.
