Appointments for Montgomery County's first COVID-19 vaccination hub have filled up for the week of Jan.18-24—just 30 minutes after registration opened, Karen Harwell, CEO of Lone Star Family Health Center, said.

On Jan. 17, Conroe's Lone Star Family Health Center was designated as the county's first COVID-19 vaccine hub provider and was allocated 2,000 doses of the Moderna Inc. COVID-19 vaccine from the Texas Department of State Health Services.

The site is slated to open Jan. 20 and will be located at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds at 9333 Airport Road in Conroe, county officials said. It will be the first of five vaccination hubs in the county.

But by around 11 a.m. Jan. 19, County Judge Mark Keough posted on Facebook that appointment slots for the vaccine are now full. The clinic's website also posted it no longer has appointments available for the week.

The county is expected to receive more doses from the state next week.
