The Montgomery County Public Health District has confirmed another death related to COVID-19: A Porter man in his 70s died in the hospital. He had comorbidities, meaning the presence of more than one chronic disease.
Total cases increased by 167 from Aug. 17 to Aug. 18, reaching 7,327. Active cases decreased by 237 to 1,099. On Tuesdays, Montgomery County Public Health District factors in additional cases they have not been able contact for more than 30 days. This is shown in the graphic as "inactive cases."
Meanwhile, 54 residents are known to be in the hospital, as a result of contact investigations. Contact investigations have not been initiated on all cases. As of Aug. 18, 5,240 people have reportedly recovered.
There are 98 Montgomery County residents in hospitals, a decrease of 7 since Aug. 17.
