Conroe Americana Music Festival
May 5-7
Hosted by the Conroe Downtown Area Association, this three-day festival features more than 50 bands from a variety of genres between six different venues in downtown Conroe. Food and beverages are available for purchase during the festival. 6-midnight (May 5), noon-midnight (May 6), noon-6 p.m. (May 7). $35 (Friday and Sunday day passes), $50 (Saturday day pass), $75 (weekend pass), free (children age 12 and younger). May 5
Friday marks the beginning of the annual film series with a showing of Finding Dory at Heritage Place. The series will continue throughout the month of May with a showing of Angry Birds May 12, Zootopia May 19 and The Secret Life of Pets May 26. Summer Saison Release Party
May 5
Southern Star Brewing Company celebrates the release of its new ale, Summer Saison, which is a light beer boasting flavors of clove, bubblegum and banana with a caramel tint. YMCA Free Swim Class Weekend
May 6-7
In an effort to promote water safety for the upcoming swim season, The YMCA of Greater Houston locations offers free 30-minute swim lessons March 6-7 for children ages 3 and older. Parents receive tools for drowning prevention and children’s swim abilities will be assessed. The event is free and open to the public, however advanced registration is recommended. 10:15 a.m.-1:45 p.m. (May 6), 12:30 p.m.-4:45 p.m. (May 7). Free.
