Over the last five years, populations in the ZIP codes and school districts for Conroe and Montgomery have grown, according to the U.S. Census Bureau’s 2021 American Community Survey 5-Year Estimates released Dec. 8.
The Conroe area ZIP code 77304 saw the biggest increase in population, going from 11,673 people in 2016 to 16,650 in 2021—a 42.64% increase. Following behind with a 30.75% increase is ZIP code 77304 that grew from 28,069 people in 2016 to 36,700 in 2021.
The city of Montgomery experienced accelerated growth with the overall population reaching 1,617. This is a 92.27% increase from 841 residents in 2016. Conroe has seen an 18.05% population increase from 2016-21.Despite the growing number of residents, the median age in the city of Conroe has decreased from 34 in 2016 to 32 in 2021. Whereas in the city of Montgomery, the median age has risen since 2016 from 33.7 to 41.2.
The Montgomery ZIP code that had the largest shift in median age was 77356 where the median age was 50.8 in 2016 and fell to 46.5. Similarly, Conroe ZIP codes saw a fluctuation in the median age estimates from 2016-21. ZIP 77318 experienced the largest shift growing from 44.7 in 2016 to 51.1 in 2021.
