Conroe City Council voted Aug. 17 to appoint Gary Scott as the city's interim city administrator during a special meeting.

During an Aug. 11 regular meeting, the City Council voted 3-2 to terminate previous City Administrator Paul Virgadamo Jr. and accept the resignation of former Chief Financial Officer Steve Williams.

A motion to appoint Scott as the interim city administrator was given by Mayor Pro Tem Curt Maddux, and the item was unanimously approved by council.

Scott serves as the city attorney. Scott said he will continue to serve as the city attorney while assuming the role of interim city administrator.

"This is the easiest vote I have ever said yes to," Council Member Harry Hardman said during the meeting. "It is a great day for Conroe."
