Conroe City Council unanimously renamed CISD School Avenue to Excellence Avenue at the May 9 council meeting.

The street runs through east Conroe from FM 3083 to Loop 336 East, and it is where Stockton Junior High is located, city officials said.

"Conroe ISD approached us about a month ago about the process of renaming this street," said Tommy Woolley, the Conroe director of capital projects and transportation, at the May 8 workshop. "We checked with 911, Excellence Avenue is available, and staff recommends approving the renaming of this street."
