Montgomery to hold first contested city election in five years for mayor, two City Council positions


The filing period deadline for May 5 city elections ended Feb. 16, revealing contested races for all three city of Montgomery positions on the ballot. On May 5, registered voters in Montgomery can cast a vote for city mayor, council member Place 2 and council member Place 4, according to the city’s website.

Susan Hensley, city secretary and director of administrative services, said the last time Montgomery had a contested city election was almost five years ago—May 11, 2013—for City Council positions 1, 3 and 5.

On Friday, Feb. 23, the drawing determining the order for candidate names on the ballot will be held at Montgomery City Hall,101 Old Plantersville Road, Montgomery, at 5:15 p.m.

  • John Champagne Jr.*
  • John L. Fox
City Council, Place 4
  • Rebecca Huss*
  • Jennifer Anthony
