Several local, state and federal elected positions are contested in this year’s elections, including Montgomery County judge and county commissioner for precincts 2 and 4. The county treasurer and justice of the peace positions are also up for election. At the federal level, Rep. Kevin Brady, R-The Woodlands, is up for re-election, as is U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz.

The latest

Brady has one Democratic opponent and will advance to the general election, while candidates from both parties have filed for Cruz’s seat. State Rep. Mark Keough’s, R-The Woodlands, District 15 seat is also contested, following Keough’s announcement of his intention to run for Montgomery County judge last May.

What’s next

Voters will head to the polls March 6 for primary elections to narrow down Republican and Democratic candidates before the general election Nov. 7.
