Conroe city engineer Scott Taylor will step down from the position Oct. 19 after accepting a position working for the city of Tyler as managing director of public works and utilities.

Taylor has served as Conroe’s director of engineering since October 2013. The city has named Tommy Woolley, Conroe assistant director of projects and transportation, as interim director until it permanently fills the vacancy.

“It has been a pleasure to work with the staff with the city of Conroe,” Taylor said. “I think we have accomplished a lot of things since I got here. ”

Taylor said the new director will continue to work on the construction of a new wastewater treatment plant and work on expanding water and sewer systems to keep up with growing demand.
