Between a grand opening jamboree and a new fine arts festival, here are a few things residents of Conroe and Montgomery should know this week, April 17-21.
1. Hosted by the Greater Conroe Arts Alliance, the first annual
Rising Stars and Legends of Texas takes place this week. The two-day event celebrates visual, performing, literary and cultural arts in Texas through live performances, panel discussions, exhibits, food and wine throughout Historic Downtown Conroe. Grand Central Park celebrates its grand opening with a Jamboree event April 22 at 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Participants will get to tour nine model homes from builders such as Darling Homes, David Weekley Homes and Village Builders and will get the chance to register to win a Jeep tour trip to Sedona. 3. The
Conroe ISD board of trustees will provide information on the selection of a campus mascot and school colors for Grand Oaks High School and Lucille J. Bradley Elementary School during its regular meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday. 4. The
Montgomery Economic Development Corporation will meet April 17 at 6 p.m. to discuss the downtown parking lot, a marketing and tourism position and the funding of water lines on Hwy. 105 and Houston Street.
